Bishop Williams makes a public health announcement addressing H1N1 Virus (Swine Flu)
The call went out expressing an urgent need to share information with the public about ways to reduce the spread of the H1N1 virus. Bishop Williams responded and carved out some time from his already hectic conference schedule. During the 99th Session of the Palmetto Annual Conference the Bishop recorded a podcast (video) hoping to reach the majority of members of the 7th Episcopal District whom he shepherds. The Rt. Reverend Preston Warren Williams, II, is the Presiding Prelate of the Seventh Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, which encompasses the entire state of South Carolina. Bishop Williams was consecrated as the 119th Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME Church). The Bishop is noted for establishing community partnerships in order to fulfill the mission of the church as he ministers to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ's liberating gospel through word and deed.
The AME church has been a leader in social justice for over 200 years and continues to serve the community both spiritually and socially. This public health announcement is the AME Church’s way of employing current technology and community resources to continue to minister to its members and the greater community during this present age.
